In many respects, Cloetta’s history is the history of our brand.
Cloetta is the Nordic region’s oldest chocolate manufacturer, dating back to 1862 when the three Cloetta brothers from Switzerland founded their company Brödrene Cloetta.


Today Cloetta is one of the market’s best known and most respected brands. A full 91% of all Swedish chocolate consumers between the ages of 15 and 65 are familiar with Cloetta. As many as 74% feel that the brand has a good reputation and 71% would be happy to recommend it to their friends*.

The umbrella brand Cloetta is supported by a number of strong and well known product brands, many of which were launched in the first half of the 20th century. Brands like Center, Plopp, Polly, Sportlunch, Guldnougat, Tarragona, Juleskum, Bridge, Mums-Mums and Extra Starka are the favourites of many confectionery lovers, and we haven’t yet mentioned Cloetta’s real flagship – Kexchoklad.

Kexchoklad, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2008, is Sweden’s oldest confectionery brand. “Still going strong” is an understatement when it comes to Kexchoklad. In fact, 9 of 10 Swedish chocolate consumers buy Kexchoklad at least once a year! Everyone knows and has a relationship with Kexchoklad, as we like to say.
